This is Alan, a Product Manager at Palo Alto Networks, leading Search and RQL (Resource Query Language) under the Prisma Cloud platform. I graduated from UC Berkeley with a master in data science/ML, and went to CUHK for my bachelor in business.
I am passionate about building tools and communities to empower people. I've had two ventures in the past, with Outing Travel aiming to connect like-minded travelers, and Escape Tech utilizing AR to reimagine the way people interact with monitors. I have also worked at Tencent on an enterprise community product and helped with several tech strategy projects at Strategy&.
I like to think from first principles, love building products, and deeply value craftsmanship. My values are largely influenced by Steve Jobs and my world model is hugely inspired by Yuval Harari’s Sapiens and James Gleick’s The Information.
Outside of work, I love driving/hiking, photography, and movies. Sunset and seashore are my favorite. I adopted a cat named Jetta after the pandemic hit, and she has been a fairly good companion since then.
