The Airbnb Story

Also just a little personal story about Airbnb to share with you :)

At the end of 2017, I went south from Vancouver to SF and began my first trip to the US. On the night of Christmas Eve, my travel partner and I took a little hunting trip for Airbnb HQ, as I was still running my startup at that time and Airbnb had been a North Star for us.

We spent quite some time circling around because we didn't see any Airbnb logo around where Google Maps was pointing at. It was not until I peeked into a building and recognized the interior design that I confirmed the building, as I've seen many photos of the Airbnb office.

We pushed the door and went in, and there was a security guard as the only man in the whole building within sight. We confirmed with him again that this is the Airbnb HQ, got informed that we couldn't go up without someone taking us, and chatted for a little. I told him how much I appreciate Airbnb in many aspects and asked whether he would see Brian Chesky often. "Oh man, I saw him coming in and out almost every day", he said, with a proud smile on his face.

Before we left, he put a book in my hand--the Airbnb Story. "Merry Christmas", he said, "Brian gave me the book when it came out. No worries, I've got a few more".

The was the best Christmas gift I've ever received.
